Cook <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Informational only. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Public Works has been working for several months creating a revised 100 year <br />floodplain map for portions of the Currier Creek drainage basin. Using its <br />consultant (Watershed Science and Engineering) and modern mapping <br />techniques, we are now ready to begin the formal process of FEMA adoption. <br />Public Works recently signed a $5,000 task order with WSE for support during <br />the FEMA adoption process. Public Works is now ready to submit all project <br />documents to FEMA. Anticipating a favorable FEMA response, staff is finalizing <br />an outreach plan supporting map adoption. Key elements of the outreach plan <br />are identified below: <br />Mail contact to all impacted property owners <br />Public meeting discussing impacts <br />• Individual assistance to property owners as appropriate <br />• Public Hearing adopting final maps. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />FEMA map adoption is a significant step towards implementing modern mapping <br />technologies in Kittitas County.
