Box 40917 <br />Olympia, WA 98501 <br />Director Cottingham: <br />We are writing to request that Kittitas County be granted a waiver to the March 1, 2016 deadline for <br />submission of a County Recreation Plan. We would like to qualify to apply for some of your grant <br />programs this year, but we have not completed adoption of our plan. We intend to complete our adoption <br />process by May 31 or earlier. <br />Your Recreation Planner, Lorinda Anderson, has recently been in contact with our office and has been <br />very helpful in reviewing our progress. She has reviewed the work we have completed to date as well as <br />the Planning Process Self Certification Form (Form #222) we filled out and submitted according to her <br />request. We believe she agrees that we have made significant progress toward completion and adoption of <br />a plan which is well-suited to the requirements of RCO's programs. <br />This is our first attempt in many years to create and adopt a County Recreation Plan. The effort came out <br />of another planning program involving recreation in which we have been engaged since late 2014. Only <br />recently, as the other recreation planning process was coming to a conclusion, did we realize that much of <br />the work accomplished translated well to the RCO requirements for a County Recreation Plan. <br />The remaining work necessary to qualify only involves repackaging current data, developing recreation - <br />based goals and objectives, creating the capital improvement program, and adopting the plan through <br />public hearing.
