KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />STUDY SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />STUDY SESSION DATE: January 9th, 2017 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: None <br />BACKGROUND: Public Works requested BOCC approval to <br />advertise for consultant services on November 15th <br />2016. Services requested included Civil and <br />Structural engineering, inspection support, <br />Environmental, Planning, and Archaeological <br />services, Geotechnical and Material Testing, and <br />Hydraulics and Hydrology Services. Summary of <br />Qualifications were accepted until December 15th <br />2016 in which 42 were submitted from various <br />firms. Public works has completed the scoring, and <br />generated the short list for interviews and or <br />selection. <br />In total five firms will be interviewed for the Civil, <br />Structural, and Construction engineering services. <br />One firm will be selected that is currently under <br />contract with Kittitas County and another will be <br />interviewed for Hydraulics and Hydrology <br />services. Two firms will be interviewed for <br />Geotechnical and Materials testing. Only one firm <br />will be selected for environmental, planning and <br />archeological services due to the initial unbalanced <br />scoring results. <br />All firms have been notified of the initial results <br />and plan. Public works has scheduled interviews <br />with firms the week of January 9th and plans to <br />negotiate contracts following the final selections. <br />Contracts for approval are anticipated to be <br />presented at the February 7Lh agenda session. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Proceed with current selection strategy <br />ATTACHMENTS: List of Summary of Qualifications submittals <br />LEAD STAFF: Lucas Buck, County Engineer <br />
