9. Longitudinal Stream Profile Stability and Countermeasure Recommendations
When designing the culvert, it will be critical to anticipate how the stream's longitudinal profile
will adjust to the new culvert. Some incision is likely, and must be factored into the design of the
culvert foundations. Incision will also impact the characteristics of the upstream wetland. WSE
will work with the culvert designer and project geotech to recommend appropriate culvert and
bed configurations for the anticipated profile adjustments. WSE will also work with the project
team to determine if impacts to the upstream wetland can or should be minimized.
10. Local Scour and Bank Erosion Assessment, Countermeasure Recommendations
WSE will assess scour and lateral erosion potential for proposed crossing alternatives. This will
include recommendations for spread footing depth if a three -sided culvert is selected. WSE will
also recommend scour and erosion countermeasures if they are needed.
11. Steam Bed Material Recommendations
WSE will recommend stream bed material gradations to be used within the floor of the culvert.
Gradations will be based upon a review of natural bed material characteristics and gradation
estimates computed using published WDFW formulas_
12. Design Reflnements
An allowance is provided for WSE staff to work with the design team to refine the crossing
designs to address comments provided by County and/or resource agency personnel.
13. Hydraulic Design Memorandum
The memorandum from Part 1 will be modified to include and document methods and results
from Part 2. The memorandum will be provided to the County for review and upon receipt of the
comments, will prepare and submit the final report.
14. Environmental Permit Support
WSE will provide materials from the hydraulic investigation that will be needed to support
preparation of environmental permit applications.
15. Site Design Meeting
An allowance is provided for WSE staff to participate in one additional meeting at the project site
to discuss the project with the civil and structural designers.
16. Administration — Part 2
WSE will maintain frequent communication with the county and submit monthly invoices which
include brief progress reports.
Schedule:
Part 1 — WSE will complete within two weeks of receiving NTP
Part 2 — Schedule TBD with consultation with design team.
Budget: Attached
