1/09/2017 MINUTES 2 <br />Committee for the KVEC Upgrades and Remodels (Barns Project), and <br />directed Staff to prepare letters of appointment for Chair <br />signature. Commissioner O’Brien seconded. Motion carried 3-0. <br /> <br />REVIEW DEPARTMENT HEAD ASSIGNMENTS COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />The Board reviewed the current department’s they are overseeing and <br />then made proposals for the 2017 Department Head assignments. <br />Commissioner Paul Jewell will oversee the HR, Public Health & CDS. <br />Commissioner Laura Osiadacz will oversee the Solid Waste/Maintenance <br />Department, Public Works & Fire Marshal. Commissioner Obie O’Brien <br />will oversee the WSU Extension, Fair & IT. <br /> <br />REVIEW COMMISSIONER COMMITTEE’S COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />Staff provided copies of the current committees that the <br />Commissioners serve on. The Board reviewed them and made changes for <br />2017, some of which follow Chairmanship or that are no longer <br />something Kittitas County participates in. <br /> <br />REQUEST 3RD FRIDAY OF EACH MONTH STAFF WORK COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board asked the BoCC to consider <br />allowing Staff to dedicate one Friday a month for no meetings to <br />allow for work/catch up. She explained that she recently was able to <br />get a lot of work caught up due to the Board not having any meetings <br />scheduled on a Friday. She stated that of course if there were an <br />extreme emergency then a meeting could be scheduled, but asked the <br />Board if they would support the request and try to remain aware of <br />that Friday. She proposed the 3rd Friday of each month. Commissioner <br />O’Brien stated that he would actually like to see all Friday’s kept <br />clear to allow for offsite meetings. Commissioner Osiadacz indicated <br />that she would support the request, however she is fine with leaving <br />it as is also. Chairman Jewell stated that he would support the 3rd <br />Friday of each month as requested. <br /> <br />Commissioner O’Brien moved to not schedule BoCC Meetings on the 3rd <br />Friday of each month unless there is an extreme emergency. <br />Commissioner Osiadacz seconded. Motion carried 3-0. <br /> <br />RATIFY LETTER TO MAYOR OF ELLENSBURG COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />Chairman Jewell moved to ratify his signature on a letter to the <br />City of Ellensburg Mayor Rich Elliot regarding Kittitas Valley Event <br />Center Capital Project Funding request. Commissioner O’Brien <br />seconded. Motion carried 3-0. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br />
