>ll%SLli1ltiilt state
Department of TranWrta#ion
Greenhouse Gas Emission
Reduction Policy Statement
1. Has your agency adopted policies to reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions?
Yes Q No
2. Please describe specific goals and objectives of your agency's Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Policy,
and describe what components it includes, and how it is implemented.
On August 34th, 2091 Kittitas County Board of County Commissioners signed resolution no.
2011-076, adopting policies for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Ktttitas County's
goals by adopting these policies is to reduce the need for imported oil through the
implementation of programs and policies promoting reduced energy bills, green space
preservation, air quality improvements, reduced traffic congestion, improved transportation
choices, and green house gas emission reduction.
Klttitats County's, Washington Greenhouse Gas Emission Reductions Policies include Public
Buildings, FleetlVehicles, Equipment, Waste Reduction/Use, Land Use, Global, Public
Eduction/Outreach, and Transportation.
Kittitas County's overall land use development, code, encourages development within our
designated urban growth areas.
3. RCW 70.2.35.070 requires project "consistency" with the state Greenhouse Gas emission limits, and
Vehicle Mile Traveled reduction benchmarks found in RCW 47.01.440. Please describe how your proposed
project is consistent with RCW 74.235.070.
The Kittitas County 1-90, Exit 78 Park and Ride project is consistent with RCW 70.235.070 by
identifying and proposing a facility to allow commuters to consolidate and reduce vehicle miles
traveled. Our project assumptions and calculations indicate how our project alms to reduce
Annual Vehicle Trips within the first year by 4,680 and reduce annual vehicfe miles by 352,872.
Our project also shows that by year four we anticipate a 100% increase in users reducing
annual vehicle trips by 9,360 and reduce annual vehicle miles traveled by 705,744.
