Project Description a
Washington skate Ption { two pages)
es
)
Depwtment at Transpwkation
Describe how the proposed grant project will address the above problem.
Recently WSOGT performed a survey of commuters currently parking in the vicinity of
the proposed park and ride lot to obtain an understanding of their travel behavior. The
survey results and census data indicate that westbound commuters are destined for
places in the Puget Soured Region. The survey respondents were destined for Bellevue
(67 miles distance) and Renton (81 miles distance). Vise assumed that the
non -respondents (persons parking in this location that did not respond to the survey) are
also destined for the Puget Sound Region. An estimated average vehicle miles traveled,
based off of the collected data from this survey, show 75.4 miles one-way.
The proposed park and ride located north of 1-90, at Fait 78 will provide a legal, improved
parking lot for up to 26 vehicles. We assume commuters using the existing lot will
contnue to travel to the Puget Sound Region for the next fouryears, and estimate that
the average vehicle miles traveled for the future year scenario will continue to be 75.4
miles one-way_ Given the large number of commuters to the Puget Sound region, we
estimate that this new park and ride lot will double the number of vehicles parked from 9
to 18 by year 4.
