10/17/2016 MINUTES 1
COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM
REGULAR MEETING

MONDAY 9:40 A.M. OCTOBER 17, 2016

Board members present: Chairman Obie O’Brien; Vice-Chairman Paul
Jewell & Commissioner Laura Osiadacz.

Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board; Greg Zempel,
Prosecutor & Lisa Young, HR Director.

REGULAR MEETING DEPARTMENT HEAD PROSECUTOR

At 10:15 a.m. Greg Zempel followed up from a Department Head Meeting
from 9/19/2016, where his department requested to hire a temporary
Receptionist due to their current one being out for a potentially
extended period of time due to health issues.

Commissioner Jewell recalled the conversation and explained that the
Board left off with needing to know where the funding was coming
from and/or when they had previously authorized funding for an
additional position. He stated that to his knowledge that
information has not been provided.

Greg Zempel, Prosecutor explained that the position is very
important and they have been down a few positions for quite some
time. He questioned using some of the funds from the salary survey
being allocated for his department to fund the Receptionist
position.

The Board felt there is still a lot of confusion over the lack of
details on the position.

Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board offered to go back and
look again for any minutes of Board meetings to see if they could
shed some light on the topic, however she stated that after the last
meeting the Board directed Staff to look at the minutes and she was
not able to find anything with regard to this topic. Lisa Young, HR
Director stated that she would look back on her minutes as well as
work with Judy Pless, Budget & Finance Manager and Robin Raap,
Administrative Assistant to see if they can get the history of this
position figured out and would report back.

Meeting adjourned at 10:30 a.m.

KITTITAS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
