KITTITAS COUNTY
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
PUBLIC WORKS — BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT
WORK SESSION DATE: January 25, 2016
TOPIC: FHWA FLAP Grant Teanaway
ACTION REQUESTED: Authorize Grant Documents
LEAD STAFF: Mark R. Cook
RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize staff prepare final grant match documents.
BACKGROUND:
Public Works has received final notice of award for a Federal Highway
Administration Grant funding hydraulic improvements along Teanaway Road.
The Federal Lands Access Program grant is for $2,432,074 (preliminary
engineering, construction, construction engineering and contingency). Our
match requirement is $328,330.
We are processing final payment of 2015 Teanaway Road improvements at this
time. We are forecasting approximately $350,000 remaining of state funding.
We have reviewed the state funding documents and hydraulic improvements are
specifically identified in the funding documents as qualified expenditure.
DISCUSSION:
Using remaining state funds ($350,000) towards our FLAP grant match
($328,330) allows an additional $2.4 million in project improvement to the state's
investment in the Teanaway. Staff believes the remaining state funds can easily
be used for matching our funding obligation against the FLAP grant.
FISCAL IMPACTS:
FLAP grant match required: $328,330.
Remaining state funds: $350,000 +!-
ATTACHMENTS:
EXHIBIT 1: FLAP Grant Documents
PUBLIC WORKS BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT
