2016-01-27 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />WEDNESDAY 11:00 A.M. JANUARY 27, 2016 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Obie O’Brien; Vice-Chairman Paul Jewell <br />& Commissioner Gary Berndt. <br /> <br />Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board; Neil Caulkins, <br />Deputy Prosecutor; Peter Dykstra, Special Deputy Prosecutor and Bill <br />Clarke (by phone), Special Deputy Prosecutor. <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING CONTRACT EXTENSION COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />At 11:03 a.m. Chairman Berndt opened a Special Meeting to discuss a <br />Contract extension with Bill Clarke & Peter Dykstra, Plauche & Carr <br />LLP (Special Deputy Prosecutors for Kittitas County). <br /> <br />Peter Dykstra, Special Deputy Prosecutor for Kittitas County <br />provided a brief review of the current Contract Extension request <br />before the Board. He stated that they have been working on this <br />project for two years and although it’s been a much longer process <br />than anticipated they are in unchartered territory. He stated that <br />the County Staff has been working hard and has gained a great deal <br />of respect from DOE, the Yakama Tribe and other key players. <br /> <br />Bill Clarke, Special Deputy Prosecutor for Kittitas County reviewed <br />the work he has been doing in Olympia for the legislative portion of <br />the project. <br /> <br />Peter Dykstra, Special Deputy Prosecutor for Kittitas County stated <br />that he has truly appreciated the Staff at the County and noted that <br />they have been extremely helpful throughout the process. He stated <br />that he hopes to continue the work with the County. <br /> <br />Bill Clarke, Special Deputy Prosecutor for Kittitas County stated <br />that there has been some discussion on a letter being drafted to <br />outline all that has been accomplished. He stated that this would be <br />handed out to Legislator’s etc., to clear up the misinformation in <br />Olympia. The Board expressed their support for the letter being <br />drafted. <br /> <br />Neil Caulkins, Deputy Prosecutor stated that he has been pleased <br />with the efforts being made to include the Prosecutor’s Office. He <br />felt it was a noticeable difference from previous updates. <br /> <br /> <br />
