KITTITAS COUNTY <br />CDS STUDY SESSION MINUTES <br />COMMISSIONERS' AUDITORIUM, 205 WEST 5TH ROOM 109 - ELLENSBURG <br />Regular Meeting <br />MONDAY 1:30 PM June 10, 2019 <br />Meeting was called to order at 1:30 pm <br />CODE ENFORCEMENT PROGRESS REPORT <br />Director Carlson provided a Code Enforcement Progress report to <br />the Board of County Commissioners. Director Carlson stated the <br />Code Enforcement Officer was hired in January and began using <br />the SmartGov tracking software immediately to track the past and <br />current code enforcement files. Director Carlson provided an <br />update on one hi -profile case. Commissioner Wright asked how <br />many cases get resolved by the education process. Director <br />Carlson responded that Code Enforcement has been fairly <br />successful with voluntary compliance, using compliance <br />agreements that provide a schedule and/or a plan to resolve the <br />code violations. <br />FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY INSPECTIONS PROGRESS REPORT <br />Director Carlson provided a quarterly progress report of the <br />Fire and Life Safety inspections. Fire Marshall is doing <br />research with the State Licensing to find other businesses that <br />need their inspections completed. The Fire Marshall has a list <br />of those businesses that he will be reaching out to for <br />inspections. Commissioner Osaidacz asked if inspections have <br />been or will they be done on Airbnb's. Director Carlson stated <br />that the way our code is written now it exempts Airbnd's from <br />fire and life safety inspections. Director Carlson received a <br />recommendation from the Prosecutors Office to make some code <br />changes to allow inspections to occur. <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION - RCW 42.30.110(1)(g), at 1:44 p.m. Chairman <br />Wright announced the Board would rece3ss into Executive Session <br />for 7 minutes, to evaluate the qualifications of an applicant <br />for public employment or to review the performance of a public <br />employee. No action was anticipated. <br />At 1:51 p.m. the Board requested 5 more minutes for the <br />Executive Session. <br />2019-06-10 MINUTES 1 <br />
