Board of Health Minutes <br />August 15, 2019 <br />2 of 3 <br />o Three current contracts in the works, notably Central Washington University update their <br />contract with KCPHD to span three years, as well as an increased monetary cap. <br />Ms. Lamb had nominated Amy Fuller, KCPHD Assessment Coordinator, for the Washington <br />State Public Health Association (WSPHA) Public Health Excellence Award, for which she was <br />selected. She will be formally acknowledged at the WSPHA conference in October. <br />Department Updates <br />• Staff of the Onsite Sewage program held a stakeholder meeting to inform policy updates. <br />• Staff from environmental health, health promotion, and assessment collaborated on a grant <br />application from Department of Ecology, requesting funds for food waste reduction education. <br />• Free immunization clinics for Ellensburg, Kittitas, and Cle Elum/Roslyn school districts are being <br />held within the next two weeks. <br />• Health Promotion staff held a meeting with stakeholders regarding childhood injury prevention, <br />and gaps were identified with the safe kids program. They are working towards solutions for <br />these gaps. <br />• There is currently only one outstanding health order, which will be going to abatement process. <br />Ms. Lamb also reviewed a tentative meeting schedule with the board for the rest of 2019 Board of Health <br />meetings as well as Board of County Commissioner's study sessions. <br />Health Officer Update <br />Dr. Larson stepped to the microphone to discuss the following topics: <br />• Bicycle helmet safety <br />• Ebola in Eastern Zaire <br />• Wildfire Smoke <br />■ Hepatitis A <br />• Zoonotics and West Nile Virus <br />• HIV Pre -Exposure Prophylaxis <br />• Naloxone <br />• Free Youth Immunization Clinics <br />■ Rabies Prophylaxis <br />Financial Update <br />Tina Rowan stepped to the microphone and gave the financial update. There was a question from the <br />board regarding a figure in the % of the Budget column. Tina will follow up on this for clarification. <br />Business <br />Grant Gantt <br />Tristen Lamb presented her Grant Gantt to the board, which is a visual representation of KCPHD grant <br />funding, and how long into the future the funding will last. Ms. Lamb refreshed the board on the <br />difference between stable and unstable funding, as well as explained that she hopes to use the gantt as a <br />tool for both KCPHD and the board to plan future funding. <br />Budget Amendment <br />Tristen Lamb briefly updated the board on an upcoming budget amendment she is submitting through the <br />auditor's office. The update includes more realistic numbers based on how the year is going, and based on <br />budget numbers that are not able to be finalized until after the initial budget is approved. <br />
