Board of Health Minutes <br />October 17, 2019 <br />2 of 3 <br />o Kasey Knutson began her new role as Special Programs Coordinator. <br />o Amy Fuller was recognized for her 2019 Public Health Excellence Award by the <br />Washington State Public Health Association and the Kittitas County Board of County <br />Commissioners. <br />o The Regional Epidemiologist position has been filled by Joyous Van Meter, who began <br />on October 91H <br />o Amy Fuller will be resigning at the end of 2019. <br />Department Updates <br />o The annual drive thru flu clinic is taking place on October 25'n, from lam to Noon. The <br />department has approximately 200 free adult doses to provide at the event. <br />o The 71 Casey Drive health order was rescinded on October 15tH <br />o The department has begun the strategic planning process for the 2020-2024 KCPHD <br />Strategic Plan. <br />o Multiple staff members participated in the CWU Masters of Public Health Kickoff <br />Event's roundtable to discuss Trauma -Informed Systems and Harm Reduction. <br />o The department's preliminary budget and narrative were submitted to the County. <br />Ms. Lamb also reviewed the meeting calendar for the rest of the year. There were no questions regarding <br />the calendar. <br />Health Officer Update <br />Dr. Mark Larson stepped to the microphone and gave a brief update about a recent conference call he was <br />a part of regarding Air Quality and Smoke. The main discussion of the call was about ethical issues <br />involved in closures because of air quality. <br />Financial Update <br />Quarterly financial update will be given at November's meeting. <br />Business <br />KCHN Presentation <br />Robin Read, Executive Director of the Kittitas County Health Network stepped to the microphone and <br />gave a presentation about the Kittitas County Health Network. The presentation reviewed the purpose of <br />KCHN, how they got started, and what their future plans and priorities are. There were several questions <br />from the board regarding the reach of services KCHN provides, and the interaction between KCHN and <br />KCPHD. <br />Vaping Update and Info <br />Dr. Larson stepped to the microphone to give a presentation about vaping. The following information was <br />included in the presentation: <br />• Background on vaping <br />• Vaping associated lung injury investigation <br />• Current youth vaping epidemic <br />• Vapor product use in adults <br />• Executive Order <br />There were questions from the board about the executive order, and why it was put in place. There were <br />also discussion about where youth obtain vapor products. <br />2020 Preliminary Budget and Draft 2020 Fees <br />Tristen Lamb reviewed the budget timeline through the end of the year, and also reviewed the proposed <br />
