Cook <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Support staff's speed study of Cove Road and anticipate a public hearing receiving study <br />results. <br />BRIEFING SUMMARY: <br />• A fatality occurred on Cove Road 02/02/2020. <br />• On 02/04/2020 Public Works received a request (Schock — EXHIBIT 1) regarding <br />speed concerns on Cove Road. <br />• Responding to concerns, Public Works (PW) has initiated a speed study for Cove <br />Road. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />A fatality occurred on 02/02/2020 at the intersection of Cove Road and Hanson Road. It <br />appears that a motorist failed to acknowledge the stop sign and was struck by a vehicle on <br />Cove Road. The motorist was killed in the accident. Several days later (02/04/2020), <br />Public Works received an electronic message (Schock) stating speed concerns with Cove <br />Road. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />A speed study has been initiated along Cove Road (Weaver Road to Manastash Road). <br />PW anticipates study results in the next several weeks. Once results are in hand, PW will <br />return and brief the Board in study session.
