KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />PUBLIC WORKS — BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />STUDY SESSION S'1AFF REPORT <br />STUDY SESSION DATE: March 9, 2020 <br />TOPIC: Council of Governments Staff Support Assignment <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Direct Public Works Staff the Council of Governments <br />LEAD STAFF: <br />Mark R. Cook <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Direct Public Works staff the Council of Governments (CoG). <br />BRIEFING SUMMARY: <br />• Public Works administers the Public Facilities Fund (108). <br />• Community Development Services currently provides staff support to the CoG. <br />• For the past several years, CoG's main workload annually consists of taking <br />actions with the Public Facility Fund. <br />• The Director of Community Development Services and the Public Works Director <br />both agree that Public Works is a better fit providing staff support to the Council <br />of Governments. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Currently, Community Development Services provides staff support to the CoG. Public <br />Works administers the Public Facilities Fund. The primary workload for CoG in recent <br />years has been reviewing and recommending funding for various Public Facility grant <br />applications. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />The Director of Community Development Services and the Public Works Director both <br />agree that Public Works is a better fit providing staff support to the Council of <br />Governments. Public Works is prepared to accept the staffing assignment from the Board <br />following the March meeting of the CoG. <br />FISCAL IMPACTS: <br />Additional costs associated with staffing CoG are budgeted within Public Works 2020 <br />Administrative budget. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />None. <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />PUBLIC WORKS BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />
