KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />STUDY SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />STUDY SESSION DATE: March 9, 2020 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to approve a Resolution to award Unobligated <br />Surface Transportation Block Grant Funds to Kittitas <br />County Public Works. <br />BACKGROUND: The Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) provides <br />flexible funding to be used by localities for projects to <br />preserve and improve the conditions and performance on <br />eligible infrastructure. Kittitas County is lead in managing <br />the funds that are awarded within Kittitas County. In the <br />fiscal year of 2020, City of Kittitas is not in position to <br />obligate an award of $504,000. Kittitas County proposes to <br />move the City of Kittitas from 2020 to 2021 aligning the <br />funding with the delivery of their project. Moving this <br />award provides additional funding for 2020 needing <br />obligation. Kittitas County has projects in need of funding <br />that qualify for said funds. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution to award 2020 STBG Grant <br />Funding as recommended. <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution; STBG recommended project funding awards <br />LEAD STAFF: Mark R.
