2020-03-16 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON COMMISSIONERS AUDITORIUM REGULAR MEETING <br /> MONDAY 10:30 A.M. MARCH 16, 2020 <br />Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith; Vice-Chairman <br />Laura Osiadacz and Commissioner Cory Wright. <br /> <br />Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Mandy Buchholz, <br />Deputy Clerk of the Board II; Dan Carlson, CDS Director; Mark <br />Cook, Public Works Director/Interim Engineer; Taylor Crouch, <br />Deputy Clerk of the Board I; Val Barschaw, Clerk; Kady <br />Porterfield, Event Center Director; and Judy Pless, Budget & <br />Finance Manager. REGULAR MEETING AGENDA STUDY SESSION COMMISSIONERS <br />At 10:30 a.m. Chairman Wachsmith opened a Regular Meeting to <br />review items scheduled for the March 17, 2020 Agenda Session. <br />The Board of County Commissioners asked questions and received <br />reports from Staff on each Agenda item. <br /> OTHER BUSINESS <br />Dan Carlson, CDS Director said he discussed an option to allow <br />for preapplication conferences to take place via telephone <br />instead of in person which is currently required by County Code. <br />He said he spoke with Deputy Prosecutor Neil Caulkins and he <br />indicated they could prepare a Resolution which would allow it <br />to take place via telephone instead of in person for a temporary <br />time. Commissioner Wright suggested evaluating the <br />preapplication process anyways. Director Cook and Director <br />Carlson agreed the process should be revisited anyways. <br /> <br />Val Barschaw, Clerk said she had previously requested that the <br />Maintenance Department install temporary plexiglass in their <br />office. She wanted her employees to have emotional assurance <br />that they are being heard. Chairman Wachsmith said they were <br />following Dr. Larson’s recommendation on how there is no need to <br />install temporary plexiglass in their office in response to the <br />COVID-19 virus. Ms. Barschaw felt there were health risks to <br />their employees. Commissioner Osiadacz questioned if she was <br />requesting plexiglass for safety reasons or due to COVID-19 <br />because those were 2 different reasons. Ms. Barschaw said it was <br />due to the COVID-19 concerns at this time.
