Future Plans*Gallery One Visual Ads Center has been in the community for over 50 years.Over
those years we have developed diverse sources of revenue that include
memberships, earned income through classes and art and gift sales, grants,
business sponsorships, individual donations and events. Our primary mission as a
nonprofit is to provide access to the arts for ail regardiess of income or ability and
we are accountable to our donors to use funds for this purpose.
We are able to balance our budget every year.Funds from lodging tax are not built
into our annual operating expenses so we are not dependent on these funds to
serve our mission, but they do allowus to grow our audience and promote Kittitas
County.
Regarding a cost-recovery model, all of our events have income and expenses that
balance out. It's the excess of these events that support our free programs for
youth, salaries and other generai operating expenses (utilities, repairs, etc). We
have accumulated a small nest egg in case of loss or unexpected expenses and
are currently undergoing an endowment campaign to further our sustainability.
2500 character lirrit
Application Questions:Part 4
6|Additional Information
Provide any additional information which will assist the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee in evaluating your
project and its benefit to tourism.
Additional Information Gallery One is located in downtown historic Ellensburg in the Stewart building,
directly across from the Rotary Pavilion. We purchased the building in 1999 and
take this responsibility seriously and treat it as an honor to have such an important
and prominent piece of real estate in our community. To that end,we assume the
full responsibility of maintaining it's historic integrity through updates, repairs and
improvements. We understand that this building is more than an art center or
gallery,it is a public asset and a community gathering space.
As we hope is evident in our application,we put a tremendous effort into making
our space available to others (Jazz in the Valley,Brewfest)at little or no charge. In
addition we put a considerable amount of effortto promote what we do outside of
Kittitas County to draw visitors to the area with the hopes of increasing traffic for
everyone.A majority of the events and exhibits that we are promoting are free! All
exhibits, our Pecha Kucha events, and the studio tour are free to experience.
Seven days a week, anyone can come and e×perience art,use the restroom and
grab a glass of water at no charge.
We feel our marketing plan complements the other fantastic efforts that are
happening in our county,we are grateful to have access to this funding to promote
arts and culture in Kittitas County.
Over the years we have learned about the impact of the cultural tourist (as per the
Dean Runyan report's average of $200/day in spending)and we seek to be a
drawto that visitor while always maintaining our integrity through mission driven
choices to support access to the arts for all.
2500 character linit
Supporting Documents You rmy upload any supporting docurrents such as graphs,inEges, diagrarre, rrerketing rreterials, etc.
GalleryOne2020Supporting Documents.pdf 466.14KB
You are allowed to subnit up to 3 single page (US Letter)docurrents in JFG,FDFor TlFFforaat
7|Previous Lodging Tax Grant Information
