BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHING TON <br />RESOLUTION <br />NO. 2 .005 <br />A Resolution Annexing Approximately 95.70 Acres of Land <br />Into Kittitas County Fire District No. 2 <br />WHEREAS, several landowners submitted petitions for annexation to Kittitas County Fire <br />District No. 2, dba Kittitas Valley Fire & Rescue, asking that approximately 95.70 acres of land, of which <br />they are owners, be annexed into Fire District No. 2; and <br />WHEREAS, Kittitas County does not have a Boundary Review Board to process such petitions; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, in the absence of a Boundary Review Board, Chapter 52.04 RCW governs <br />annexations for fire protection districts; and <br />WHEREAS, the petition method of annexation is an alternative method to the election method, <br />and is governed by RCW 52.04.021, 031, 041, and .051, as well as by other statutes to which reference is <br />made within those statutes; and <br />WHEREAS, in accord with RCW 52.04.031, the annexation petition was filed with the board of <br />fire commissioners of Fire District No. 2, signed by the owners of at least 60% of the area of land to be <br />annexed, and included a legal description and a plat outlining the boundaries of the proposed annexation; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, in accord with RCW 52.04.041, the fire commissioners of District No. 2 by <br />Resolution 19-18 dated September 12, 2019, approved the annexation following notice and a public <br />hearing; and <br />WHEREAS, the board of fire commissioners of Fire District No. 2 submitted a signed copy of <br />its Resolution to the Board of Kittitas County Commissioners (BOCC) for action pursuant to RCW <br />52.04.051; and <br />WHEREAS, the board of fire commissioners of Fire District No. 2 also submitted additional <br />information and documentation including: (1) a Notice of Intention; (2) copies of the short plat and legal <br />description of boundaries of the proposed annexation area, certified by a registered engineer or land <br />surveyor; (3) vicinity maps displaying the boundary of the area proposed to be annexed and the size in <br />acres; (4) a vicinity map displaying the boundary of the annexation in relation to the current boundary of <br />the fire district; (5) the property owner's petition; (6) a certified copy of the County Assessor's <br />verification letter in regard to parcel number, map number, abbreviated legal descriptions and <br />corresponding owner of record; (7) affidavit of publication of public hearing notice; and (8) certified <br />copy of the minutes of the fire district public hearing; and <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />Resolution Approving Umptanum Road Annexation <br />Into Kittitas County Fire District #2 <br />
