BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSII <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br />ORDINANCE No. 2019 - <br />ESTABLISHMENT OF A SPEED ZONE AND THE PLACEMENT OF SPEED LIMIT SIGNS <br />ON TANEUM ROAD EAST AND AMENDING SECTION 10.08.020 AND SECTION 10.08.030 OF <br />THE KITTITAS COUNTY CODE <br />WHEREAS: The Department of Public Works conducted two separate speed studies (04/29/19 — <br />05/06/19 and again on 07/22/19 — 07/29/19); and <br />WHEREAS: The Board of Kittitas County Commissioners did hold a public hearing on Tuesday, <br />September 3, 2019 to hear public testimony regarding the establishment of a 35 mile per <br />hour (MPH) speed zone and placement of speed limit signs on the above listed road. <br />WHEREAS: Kittitas County Board of County Commissioners have determined that 35 miles per hour is <br />an appropriate speed limit for Taneum Road East for the entire length of the road based on <br />public testimony received; and <br />WHEREAS: The Kittitas County Board of County Commissioners have determined that 35 mile per hour <br />speed limit signs would improve safety along Taneum Road East from mile post 1.0 to mile <br />post 2.84; <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED That the Kittitas County Board of County Commissioners, after <br />due deliberation and in the best interest of the public, does hereby establish a 35 mph speed limit on Taneum <br />Road East for the entire length of the road; and authorizes the placement of speed limit signs at the above <br />stated locations and amending Kittitas County Code Section 10.08.020 and Section 10.08.030 as indicated in <br />Exhibit A. <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED That this ordinance will become effective upon the installation of the <br />appropriate signs. <br />ADOPTED this 3`d day of September, 2019. <br />Attest: <br />❑ Clerk of the Board- Julie Kjorsvik <br />❑ Deputy Clerk of the Board- Mandy Buchholz <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />Cory Wright, Chairman <br />Brett Wachsmith, Vice -Chairman <br />Laura Osiadacz, Commissioner <br />
