Response 2.3 :
Evidence*
Our logic is as follow.,:
1. We add up each visit (taken at the front desk) to the gallery, our events , our
classes. Th is year , in 2018 , we modestly project that 'MIi total 24,945 visits. We
apply a 10 % increase for next year and get 27,450.
2 . We review our Facebook demographics and Google analytics of our website to
understand where our visitors are from .
3. We rev iew our membership addresses and all of our addresses and see where
they are from.
4. We compare the percentages of those from inside the county, out of the county,
and out of the state. The attachment show., those numbers for th e past three
years.
5 . We determine an average percentage of those from out of the state and out of
the county and apply that to the overall number of visits.
Out of state average of mailing list and members is 6%
Out of county average of mailing list and members is 22%
6. We multiply our projection of visits by these numbers . Our projection for 2019 is
27 ,450
27 450 x . 06= 164 7 Out of state visitors
27450 x .22 = 6039 Out of county vis itors
We only account for the projected increase in tourism, not actual projected tourism.
27450 x .28 =7686 out of state plus out of county visitors
8 . We make a modest assumption that 1 out of 30 of these visitors (out of state
plus out of county) 'MIi pay for lodging. This totals 256. Kittitas County
Infrastructure plan survey stated that 39 % of participants of their survey stayed in
paid lodging .
We have been us ing s imilar methodology since 2014 to track our attendance. In
the past we have only shown the numbers based on the increase in tourism. this
year we attempt to represent the total tourism impact.
2500 character lillit
Application Questions: Part 2
31 Measuring Results
"
What tools 'MIi you use to measure your event's impact on tourism? Please be specific and provide examples. Include the
follo>Mng information:
A. Is your projecUevent year-round or is it seasonal or date-specific? Go to definitions of terms.
B. What strategies 'MIi you employ to assure you are attracting tourists from at least 50 miles away?
C. What strategies >MIi you use to assist in marketing all of Kittitas County as a tourist destination 'Mth your
event/project funding request?
