KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: July 16, 2019 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution to Ratify the City of Cle <br />Elum's Award to Construct Utility Extensions to the <br />County's Upper County Shop at the Request of the Public <br />Works Director <br />BACKGROUND: For the past several years, Public Works has been working <br />to develop property on No. 5 Mine Road in Cle Elum for a <br />new county maintenance facility. At the request of the <br />Public Works Director, the City solicited contractors for <br />bids extending utilities to the proposed shop location. A <br />qualified low bid was received by the City on 07-08-2019. <br />City council took action awarding the construction bid to <br />DJB Construction on 07-09-2019. DJB's bid was <br />approximately $87,000 under Engineer's Estimate. This <br />work enables the fire suppression system at the Solid Waste <br />Transfer Station, located across the street from the <br />proposed maintenance facility. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Ratify the City's action awarding utility extension <br />construction to the proposed county maintenance facility on <br />No. 5 Mine Road in Cle Elam. <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution; Bid Summary <br />LEAD STAFF: Mark R.
