RR-P18: Future "General Commercial" zones will not <br />be allowed outside Urban Growth Areas and LAMIRDs. <br />RR-P19: Kittitas County will provide criteria within its <br />zoning code to determine what uses will be permitted <br />within rural zone classifications in order to preserve <br />rural character. <br />RR-P20: Residential and commercial buildings outside <br />Type 1 LAMIRDs will be located in areas buffered by <br />vegetation to maintain Kittitas County's historic rural <br />character. <br />RR-P21: Functional separation and setbacks found <br />necessary for the protection of water resources, rural <br />character and/or visual compatibility with surrounding <br />rural areas shall be required where development is <br />proposed. <br />. , . <br />RR-P22: Provisions will be made for roadside stands, farmers' markets, "U-pick," and customer share <br />cropping operations. <br />8.4.4 Rural Designations <br />Rural Lands are divided by function of the uses intended. The purpose of placing certain lands in these land <br />use designations is to accommodate these various functions. The following goals are intended to guide the <br />designation of rural lands: <br />RR-G12: Permit residential development in rural areas which enhance and protect rural character. <br />RR-G13: Preserve and protect non-resource forests and agriculture lands which are dominant in Kittitas <br />County. <br />RR-G14: Provide opportunity for development for recreational purposes which are consistent with rural <br />character and protect public health and safety. <br />RR-G15: Provide opportunity for limited development of rural community. <br />8.4.5 Rural Land Use Descriptions <br />Rural areas provide a choice in living environments through a mix of large lots and existing smaller lots in <br />rural centers and Limited Areas of More Intensive Rural Development (LAMIRDs). <br />Table 8-1 identifies the Rural Land Use designations within the Kittitas County rural areas and corresponding <br />zoning classifications. The table also displays the estimated acreages of each designation and classification <br />determined by the Geographic Information System (GIS) of the County.
