Crossover trails between ski areas which would encourage people to ski or bike between ski <br />areas, should be developed or upgraded. <br />11. Loading zones and ramps for deliveries in commercial centers should be required. <br />12. Transportation planning should address the needs of potential future uses, such as: <br />a. Community center; <br />b. Golf courses or other new recreational facilities; and <br />c. Competitions or events such as mountain biking, skiing, snow boards, triathlons, and <br />shows. <br />13. Commercial/residential/recreational centers which are developed should be connected by <br />transportation corridors. <br />14. The redesign of SR 906 at the Summit to create a pedestrian oriented <br />commercial/recreational village should be considered. <br />15. Whenever possible, auto-oriented business should be separated from pedestrian oriented <br />shopping and recreation areas. <br />16. Both public and commercial cross country skiing are a part of the recreational activities at <br />the Pass and should be encouraged. A system of out-back lodges and a longer loop trail <br />should be encouraged to increase the desirability of cross country skiing. <br />17. Scenic hiking trails from the base area through old growth timber, and to local attractions <br />and view points should be maintained. A system of trails utilizing the ski lifts should be <br />considered. <br />18. Horseback riding and mountain pack trips should be encouraged on suitable trails. Llama <br />trips should also be considered. Trails suitable for this use should be identified and mapped. <br />19. The mountain bike trail system should be expanded and made compatible with walking <br />trails. <br />20. Biking, walking and skiing should be encouraged as attractive transportation alternatives. <br />Car/pedestrian conflicts should be reduced. <br />21. Adequate capacity roads, paths and streets with convenient and carefully planned <br />circulation should be developed and maintained. <br />22. Residential streets should be protected from the effects of through traffic. Nonresident <br />parking on residential streets should be discouraged or prohibited. <br />23. Parking should be provided in accordance with type of trip and vehicle. Walking to <br />secondary destinations should be encouraged. <br />24. Road markings and directional signage should be improved to reduce confusion.
