Kittitas County December 2016 Comprehensive Plan <br /> boating <br /> bird and wildlife watching <br /> sightseeing <br />The amount of available recreation is unmatched anywhere else in the State, and is remarkable <br />not only for its diversity, but also for its close proximity to a major metropolitan area and ease of <br />access via I-90. <br />5.1.1 Goals and Objectives <br />V.1 Goal: Encourage the development of all-season, multi-option recreational facilities on public <br />and private land. Facilitate the cooperation and coordination of planning and development <br />activities of public agencies and private land owners. <br />V.2 Goal: Encourage the development of a Visitor Information Center to inform and educate the <br />public about the areas recreational opportunities. <br />V.3 Goal: Develop an integrated public/private trail system, which provides recreational <br />opportunities and connects recreational areas with other uses. <br />Objectives: <br />1. Connect village or activity centers to surrounding residential and recreational areas with <br />trails developed in green belts and open space areas. <br />2. Incorporate educational, cultural, historical and environmental self-guided tours. <br />3. Provide sufficient trail width and/or other means for multiple uses (e.g., biking, walking, <br />jogging, and cross country skiing). <br />4. Prohibit the use of off-road motorized vehicles on multi use trails. Limit the use of <br />snowmobiles to appropriate areas. <br />5. Prohibit the use of firearms in areas where other forms of recreation are accommodated or <br />encouraged. <br />6. Expand the existing mountain biking trail system. <br />7. Provide a separate equestrian trail system. <br />8. Site trails away from wildlife corridors and archaeologically important areas. <br />V.4 Goal: Encourage careful, consistent, multi-season development of ski areas comprising The <br />Pass complex. <br />Facilitate the expansion and upgrading of existing facilities - including, but not limited to, <br />properties conveniently attainable from the existing facilities - thereby providing improved <br />recreational opportunities in a manner consistent with the applicable Master Plan in effect for <br />The Pass ski area. <br />Objectives:
