How will this position meet the economic development goeb of the County and region? <br />Utilizing information found in the Kittitas County Comprehensive Plan (December 2016), the City of Ellensburg <br />Comprehensive Plan (December 2017), as well as the TIP Strategies from 2009, the EBDA will be focusing on the <br />following elements in the next 18 months: <br />Analyzing and gathering data on existing businesses In order to support and retain and assist in their <br />success and potential expansion <br />Develop marketing strategies to recruit new businesses and industries to maintain a strong and <br />diverse Jobs and wage base <br />o New website to include current business climate, quality of life, demographics, and searchable <br />database of available land and buildings <br />o Social media strategies <br />o Professional print materials <br />Highlight and preserve the unique historic and rural attributes of Ellensburg and Kittttas County <br />Work closely with WorkSource, SBA, and Central Washington University to develop and pronate <br />educational and workforce opportunities to new and existing businesses. Expand relationship with <br />other regional training institutions on potential partnerships <br />Collaborate with the 16ttttas County Chamber of Commerce, Ellensburg Downtown Association, City of <br />Ellensburg Departments and Commissions, and Kittitas County on strategy development and <br />Implementation along with offering our assistance on projects that forward economic development in <br />Kdits County. <br />Work with the City and County offices of Community Development Office to address future zoning <br />needs <br />These strategies will help to achieve the following goals found within the Kittitas County Comprehensive Plan, <br />specifically Chapter 10 on Economic Development <br />10.3. Goals, Policies and Objectives Kittites County has established the following goals and policies to guide <br />future economic development. These goals and policies were developed in response to existing economic <br />conditions identified within the County. <br />GPO 10.1 Be a county the supports the varied needs and demands of the community and surrounding <br />area through the understanding and creation of a supportive and active environment for economic <br />development in the community. <br />GPO 10.2 Support the retention and expansion of existing local businesses/industries and recruitment of <br />new businessrndustries in order to maintain a strong Job and wage base. <br />GPO 10.8 Implement regulations that recognize and further the diversity of industry and the business <br />community, while also promoting the sustainability of natural resource based activities. <br />GPO 10.4 Encourage economic growth while protecting the rural character of the County. <br />GRD 10.6 Provide the infrastructure and public facilities to support economic activity and growth. <br />GPO 10.8 Promote and encourage the establishment and expansion of educational, research and other <br />related activities that support existing local industries and businesses. <br />10 <br />
