18SHSP Work Plan and Budget
Kittitas County Sheriff's Office
SHSP Investment #3 -Regional Homeland Security Projects, Project #7 Description
Region 7 will sustain past efforts to improve the entire preparedness cycle and incorporate a regional
aspect to county-based small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS). The program will assist with threat and
hazard detection, critical infrastructure surveillance, and search and rescue. The objective is to have assets
in place to deploy for immediate response.
Activities will include:
1) Develop a regional sUAS program.
2) Strengthen and harden aitical infrastructure.
3) Assess the regional communication systems. Equipment will be replaced as identified and all
communications investments will align with the Statewide Communication Interoperable ?Ian (SCIPJ and
will be coordinated with the Statewide Interoperability Coordinator (SWIC).
4) Upgrade mass notification systems and continue to target diverse populations especially those with
limited English proficiency.
5) Continue training on active shooter scenarios.
6) Replace outdated equipment for special teams as required and sustain specialized training.
7) Ensure effective Operational Coordination across the Region by dedicating planning efforts to regional
initiatives, equipping EOCs as needed, and implementing a robust regional training program to address
personnel shortages specifically related to staffing EOC operations.
SUBPROJECT_#l SWAT Equipment and Training
PRIMARY CORE t;JIPA8IU11/:S BEING ADDRESSED
lntllnlldfon ond Dknlpllan
WHY IS THE WORK NEEDED?
GAP !dJ: . t!d
PLANNING
So .00
lackofequiPmentandtrainingforSWATTea-;; ----··
ORGANIZA11ON
so.oo
-The Ellensburg Police Department (EPO) is joining the ICitt~as County Regiona I SWAT team, t he primary resource foT
fnterdiction and dlsrupticn of foreign and domestic t h reats.
