These linkages offer more economical development of needed <br />facilities ~nd have streamlined the permitting process for the horse park facility. <br />On October 22., 1997 the Horse Park Authority voted to endorse the Trendwest/Suncadia <br />site in order to proceed with prellmlnary planning. On January 2, 1998 WSPRC met and <br />approved the site. <br />F acllity Master PLAN <br />The contract for the design of the original master plan was awarded to Atelier p~. Janis <br />Snoey, the master plan project manager, worked with the Washington State Horse Park <br />Authority, the Washington State Horse Park Foundation, the Public Involvement Task <br />Force, -and the · authors of this study to design the Master plan. The d~sign of the Horse <br />Park clearty reflects an Iterative process that entalled repeated Interaction of all of these <br />parties. It is appropriate to draw directly from the document ~o succinctly portray the <br />envisioned facility: <br />As a show and competition facility, the Horse Parle Master Plan Is designed to accommodate one or more <br />small-to moderate-sized events at a time. At full bufld..c,ut, the Horse Park WIii support large events such as <br />regional Arabian Horse and Quarter horse shows, the North American Young Rider's Pro~ Anal <br />CompetitiQn. Dressage and Jumping Wor1d Cup competitions. The Horse Perk will meet the needs of breed <br />shows, western competitions, Jnd equestrian sports such as competitive trail riding, Jumping, dressage, <br />combined driving and three-day eventing. American Horse Show Association (AHSA), Federation Equestre <br />Internationale (FEl)and Professional Rodeo Cowboy's As6ocleUon (PRCA)standards wll guJde development of <br />the show and competition facDIUes • . <br />The Horse Park wlll also serve tho~e Interested In less formal equestrian activities such as trail tiding. The <br />Horse Park is proposed to include a trail system interconnected to the Coal Mine Trail east of the site and the <br />Iron Horse Slate Park (the John Wayne trail) south of the site.
