Land Use <br />GPO 2.12B Reserved. <br />GPO 2.13 Electric and natural gu tt1:t.I1SIDission and distribution facilities may be sited within and <br />through areas of Kittitas County both inside and outside of municipal boundaries, UGAs, Master <br />Planned Resorts, and LAMIRDs, including to and through ruraJ areas of Kittitas County. <br />GPO 2.14 Kittitas County will continue to explore incentives for farming and ranching to <br />continue as significant land uses, for example, innovative cluster platting, transfer of development <br />rights. and planned unit developments. <br />GPO 2.15 The development of resource based industries and processing should be encouraged in <br />all areas of Kittitas County. When such uses are located in rural and resource lands, criteria shall <br />be developed to ensure the protection of these lands to ensure compatibility with rural character. <br />Consider adding a definition for ''resource based industry" to the definitions in Title 17, Zoning. <br />GPO 2.16 Habitat and scenic areas are public benefits which must be provided and financed by <br />the public at large, not at the expense of individual landowners md homeowners. <br />GPO 2.17 Kittitas County may accept by bequest lands for habitat and scenic areas. <br />GPO 2.18 If Kittitas County chooses to acquire additional lands for habitat and scenic areas, it <br />may consider a variety of methods of financing, including grants of State or federal funds, or <br />other instruments. <br />GPO 2.19 The County should recognize the abundance of habitat, scenic areas and views on <br />publicly-owned lands when assessing the need for additionaJ such lands. Efforts to connect <br />habitat and open space on private lands to habitat and open space on public lands shall be <br />encouraged. <br />GPO 2.20 Efforts to retain access to public lands shall be encouraged. <br />GPO 2.21A Designate sufficient available land for specialized industrial uses that are by their <br />nature compatible with residential. agricultural, recreational, md other general lend use zypes. <br />GPO 2.21B Promote industrial development within the UGAs by encouraging infrastructure <br />improvements and new business recruitment <br />GPO 2.21 C Encourage an adequate inventory of developable property to accommodate the siting <br />of new, and the expansion of existing industrial uses. <br />GPO 2.21D Identify areas where mixed commercial and industrial uses can be sited if <br />compatibilizy is evident. <br />GPO 2.22 Kittitas County shall coordinate with State and federal ·agencies in the development <br />plans and of ]and use regulations by providing notification to appropriate agencies of new <br />planning activities. <br />Kittitas County <br />Comprehensive Plan 2·6 <br />December 2016
