XVIII. Policies <br />G. Kittitas County will coordinate with the Washington State Department of Health <br />(DOH) and Ecology regarding air quality. <br />H. KCPHD will distribute masks, as available, to the public during incidents with air <br />quality alerts issued by Ecology and periods of air quality conditions that range <br />from "unhealthy to sensitive populations" to "hazardous." <br />I. If KCPHD is unable to provide indoor air monitoring to all public places <br />locations, the Health Officer will prioritize monitoring based on sensitive <br />populations receiving priority. <br />J. Air quality conditions that reach "unhealthy" within a school building will result <br />in a recommendation from the Health Officer to close school until indoor air <br />quality can be mitigated to "unhealthy for sensitive populations." <br />K. Outdoor activities should be moved indoors when the air quality moves beyond <br />the threshold of"unhealthy for sensitive populations (150 index/35.4 WAQA)" <br />and cancelled or moved to and area with acceptable air during "unhealthy" or <br />worse. <br />L. Hazardous air quality will result in the closure of outdoor events via an enforced <br />Health Order. Events will be occasions permitted through the county or local <br />municipalities, openly advertised as an event to the public, or charge admission. <br />M. For large scale, annual events, such as Kittitas County Fair or Rodeo, KCPHD <br />will work with agency partners to update plans and response in the event of <br />hazardous air quality. <br />XIX. Responsibilities <br />KCPHD will be responsible for the following: <br />• Provide public information regarding air quality conditions and resulting activity <br />recommendations. <br />• Provide N95 masks to the public, as available. <br />• Provide indoor air monitoring of locations determined to provide respite from outdoor <br />air. <br />• Provide indoor air monitoring, as available, to public places within Kittitas County. <br />• Conduct monthly equipment testing of air quality monitors and ensure monitors are <br />recalibrated and certified, as necessary. <br />• Annually, monitors will be compared to outside readings via Ecology prior to wildfire <br />season to ensure accuracy. <br />• The Health Officer will determine the final recommendations and implementations of <br />health orders. <br />• Notifying Emergency Management of forecasted "hazardous" air conditions. <br />KCSO will be responsible for the following: <br />111
