CITY OF CLE SLUM <br />WASHINGTON <br />ORDINANCE NO.1455 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CLE ELUM, <br />WASHINGTON, ESTABLISHING CLE ELUM MUNICIPAL <br />CODE 10.36 RELATING TO COMPLETE STREETS <br />POLICY; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND <br />ESTABLISHING AN EFFECZiVE DA'Z'E <br />WHEREAS, "Complete Struts" mean roadways planned, designed, and constructed to <br />provide access to, all legal users in a manner that promotes safe and efficient movement of people <br />and goods, whether by car, truck, transit, assistive device, foot, or bicycle; and <br />WBEREAS, using walking and bicycling offers improved health benefits for the <br />population and makes CIe Elur n a more livable community; and <br />WHEREAS, the Washington legislature has passed "Complete Streets" legislation that <br />ermurages the Washington State Departmeat of Transportation and local governments to consider <br />all users m transportation -related projects, and <br />WHEREAS, Complete Streets xvport economic growth and commur*y stability by <br />Providing accessible SW efficient connections between hone, school, work, recreation, and retail <br />destinations by improving pedestrian and vehicular environments throughout communities; and <br />WHEREAS, Complete Streets enhance safe walking and bicycling; options for school-age <br />children, in recognition ofthe national Safe Routes to Schools Program; and <br />WHEITAS, the City of Cle Elum. recognizes the importance of strut infinwuctum aW <br />modifications such as sidewalks, crosswalks, shared -use baths, bicycle lanes, s4Me, and <br />accessible curb ramps that enable safe, conventera, mid comfortable travel for all users. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLE ELUM, <br />WASHINOMN, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Sectio 1.
