PRQIWr NARRATIVE <br />1. Requeet Description: Please describe the work this position will perform. Include a Job description and <br />any other pertinent iniarmation. <br />These fiords will be used to help find staffing fiar the Kittitu County Chamber of Commerce <br />Economic Devekq nent Dq=Iment. The cone functions of the department are to provide <br />assistance to the businesses at are looking to locate within the county, to provide assistance to <br />those businesses aheady doing business hese, and to assist individuals who are leukins to start a <br />now business. The department also trate and maintains information pertinent to the business <br />community such as incentives, grants and demogics. Multiple staff members share <br />rsaponsr'bilities to support and accomplish these fmnctions and tasks. The funds requested will <br />also support staffim management and opera = of the two Catalyst Co -worming Spaces. <br />L Is this anew position for your organkadon? The KitMas County Chamber of Commerce is the only county wide <br />organization o$ering businesses technical assistance, assistance with site select= as well as <br />business elect up assistance. As the County's designatedAssoch to Deevelop in nt Organization we <br />maintain an inventory of business resourcts, track incen ives, make business referrals to the State <br />and Federal Departments of Commerce and are responsible for reporting all activity to the State <br />Dept of Commerce. We regularly conduct surveys with local businesses to keep up with local <br />trends and uncover barriers that inlu*bk economic vitality. <br />g. Please <br />expisln In detail. <br />Yes, we work throughout all of Kittitas county and with all of the i:tumicipalities. We are gently <br />wmiring closely with the State Dgwt mmmt of Commerce on multiple site location requests, local <br />business assistance and funding oppmUmities. Through our busmess retention and start-up efforts we <br />provided assn tQnoc to 15 businesses that were looking to located within Eastern Washington and <br />conducted 6 site visits. By conducting surveys and hosting industry rowuhables we have been able to <br />identify some of the issues facing our businesses and cbsmmel tbcm to the appropriate city, county or <br />state entity. We continue our partnerships with the local mmmicipalities, Central Washington <br />qty, the Ellensburg Downtown mon, Cie Elum Downtown Associatimm, SBDC and the <br />Yakima Development Association with purmects files Cie Elum Main Street and master plan, the <br />Enterprise Challenge Business Plain Competition and small business incubation through the Cataylst <br />Co -working Spaces. <br />
