Date: <br />From: <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT <br />501 North Anderson Street, Ellensburg WA 98926 <br />March 16, 2017 <br />Angela San Filippo, Long Range Planner <br />RE: Kittitas County Conference of Governments recommendation on employment projection <br />and allocation <br />Summary <br />In addition to the population projection and allocation recommendation COG has reached a <br />recommendation for employment projections and allocations. This recommendation is based on the <br />countywide land capacity analysis and population and employment study. <br />COG voted unanimously on the following employment projection and allocation: <br />• 2.00% average annual employment growth rate <br />• 80% of employment growth to be located in urban areas (cities and their UGAs) <br />• 20% of employment growth to be located in rural areas outside of established UGAs <br />This allocation is based on carrying forward how employment is currently split in the County with about <br />78% located in urban areas and about 22% located in rural areas. <br />The allocation to the individual jurisdictions was based on each jurisdiction maintaining their 2015 share <br />of employment. <br />• Ellensburg's current share of employment is about 64% <br />• COG's allocation recommendation results in 63% of employment located in Ellensburg in 2037 <br />Table 1.
