KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: October 2, 2018 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to approve a Resolution authorizing Chair <br />Signature on KPFF Task Order No. 16, Big Boulder Creek <br />Bridge Replacement <br />BACKGROUND: In 2018, The United States Forest Service discovered a <br />damaged abutment on the wooden bridge at Big Boulder <br />Creek. Public Works received Title 1 funding from the <br />United States government during 2018 and anticipates <br />additional funding in 2019. The bridge is located on Fish <br />Lake Road and is maintained by the Forest Service. <br />Replacement of bridge is not likely without the Title 1 <br />funding. The road is utilized by a handful of residents and <br />provides a recreation access to hikers in the summer and <br />snow mobiles in the winter. The Forest Service is anxious <br />to replace the structure in 2019. KPFF is an approved <br />structural consultant appearing on Public Works 2017 <br />professional roster. The cost of design and construction <br />support service is $173,000. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the Chair's signature on KPFF Task Order No. <br />16 for design and construction support services; Big <br />Boulder Creek Bridge Replacement. <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution, Task Order No. 16 with KPFF <br />LEAD STAFF: Mark R.
