6.5 Ready, Set, Go! Program
The Ready, Set, Go! Program seeks to develop and improve the dialogue between fire departments
and the residents they serve. The program helps the fire service teach individuals who live in high risk
wildland fire areas—and the WUI—how to best prepare themselves and their properties against
wildland fire threats.
% -fie ready.
Talk to lataf fire department
personnel ala irtt proparing.vnrx horne
1oi wiUland Im ilynat.
work to pr"t, your prorw.i1y by
creating dahand ble spam
El rlean up or relocate combustible
material tram around your horria
Ct Kedp grass rrx,wed short
'.I Trim trots and I]ufilr, ;, to a1owing
ample; spwa o t,otwoon yfAn taoa r;
and landscape vegetation
-- Be alert
Prepare P- 'go kit' and include
€telnk such as
Rob Wion mcdk-il.Ul
1 Emergency supples
I:': lmport-wt doc unimts
Create your own acuan plan
€ lan.and prdetir,d mutlipk, axil
mutes prom yc,ur home
mid neighhorl ooil
Asslrn a ms;A€ng place In case
you arR "tm.-Rtnd
Make LtrE• o rrt-, i dmiliar with your
Inca! omoigeirry nalitic:alion and
auactiralKW x.V ?Li lr'
4 1- Act early
H Remain aim and koop yourso;l
intom'Kic! of the siluation.
l5d Get ynur'go kit" and leave well
before the Impending threat
reaches your community or
neighborhood tollowtng a planami,
arfi €tile muto.
r' CMjXJrdtc, with loa auftrUriti
dia ing Pmcuatlon and
re-entry procra.
The program's tenets help residents be Ready with preparedness understanding, be Set with
situational awareness when fire threatens, and to Go early when necessary. The Ready, Set, Go!
Program works in complementary and collaborative fashion with the Fire Adapted Communities
Coalition and existing wildland fire public education efforts (e.g., Firewise) and amplifies their
message to individuals about emergency preparedness and evacuation. Ready, Set, Go! provides
educational and outreach materials to limited English speakers, standardizing the message and
ensuring that information is accurate across languages. Washington State Emergency Management
Division provides additional resources for educational outreach to limited English speakers.
Community Wildfire Protection Plan 53 September 2018
