Kittitas County Transfer Station <br /> Community Meeting Summary <br /> <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />Details <br />Date: September 13, 2017 <br />Time: 6 – 8 PM <br />Location: Kittitas Valley Event Center (Armory Main Hall) <br /> 901 E 7th Avenue, Ellensburg, WA <br /> <br />Agenda <br />• 6:00 – 6:15 p.m. Open house <br />• 6:15 – 6:45 p.m. Presentation <br />• 6:45 – 7:00 p.m. Question and answer session <br />• 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Open house <br /> <br />Attendees <br />Approximately 37 community members attended the community meeting and signed in. <br /> <br />Key Topics <br />The following topics were brought up by members of the public during the open house: <br />• Potential impacts to groundwater <br />• Floodplain impacts <br />• Impacts to residential communities <br />• Traffic impacts <br /> <br />• Accessibility <br />• Sizes of the potential sites <br />• Suggestions to modify the current site <br />• Project funding and costs <br />Outreach Materials <br />Project staff announced the meeting through a variety of outreach methods: <br /> <br />Notifications <br />• Postcards were mailed to approximately 15,000 households within the project area as <br />the initial invitation to the community meeting (Appendix A). <br />• Radio announcements were aired on Friday September 8, 2017 and Monday September <br />11, 2017 on KXLE radio to remind and encourage the public to attend (Appendix B). <br />• A display ad advertising the meeting ran in the Ellensburg Daily Record on September 7, <br />8, 9, and 11 (Appendix C). <br />• Note: Meeting sign-in sheet responses revealed most attendees learned about the <br />meeting from the postcard. Additional means noted were word of mouth, radio and <br />newspaper. <br /> <br />Tools <br />• A Participate Online project website had been running with content from the first round <br />of outreach since May 2017. The website was updated in advance of the meeting with <br />details of the upcoming meeting, when and where it would be held and what <br />information could be expected. The website was updated again on the day of the <br />meeting to include all meeting materials (including display boards and the PowerPoint <br />presentation shown at the meeting) and provide interested community members an <br />opportunity to review the project information when it is convenient for them.
