BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2018 - <br />TO RATIFY THE CHAIRMAN'S SIGNATURE ON THE LOCAL AGENCY <br />FEDERAL AID PROJECT PROSPECTUS FOR THE ROADSIDE HAZARD <br />SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS - COUNTYWIDE PROJECT <br />WHEREAS: The Roadside Hazard Safety Improvements — Countywide project will <br />provide for safety improvements on several different road segments to <br />lessen the severity of run -off -the -road crashes by installing guardrail <br />where necessary to protect roadside hazards, and installing signage and <br />other delineation measures to prevent run -off -the -road crashes; and <br />WHEREAS: Public Works has been awarded federal funding for this project through <br />the Highway Safety Improvement Program in the amount of $689,000 <br />with no local match requirement if construction is authorized prior to <br />April 30, 2019; and <br />WHEREAS: Public Works has been awarded federal funding for this project through <br />the Surface Transportation Block Grant program in the amount of <br />$203,275 with a 13.5% local match requirement; and <br />WHEREAS: In preparation to advertise the project for construction in fall of 2018, <br />Public Works is requesting the Washington State Department of <br />Transportation to release funds for construction; and <br />WHEREAS: A Local Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus must be executed by the <br />Chair acknowledging the project has been reviewed and is consistent with <br />the agency's comprehensive plan for community development; and <br />WHEREAS: Public Works staff secured the Chairman's signature on the Prospectus on <br />June 27th, 2018; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners, in <br />the best interest of the public, does hereby ratify the Chairman's signature <br />on the Local Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus for the Roadside <br />Hazard Safety Improvements — Countywide project. <br />
