Indexes <br />posting larger increases include 1:1iotor vehicle insurance (6.0 percent), tobacco (3.7 percent), shelter (3.2 <br />percent), and medical care (3.0 percent). Indexes rising more slowly include personal care (1.7 percent), <br />recreation (1.3 percent), and air1i~e fares (0.4 percent). The index for new vehicles was unchanged over <br />the past 12 months, and several in~exes declined, including used cars and trucks (-1.5 percent), <br />household furnishings and operatibns (-1.2 percent), and apparel (-0.6 percent). <br />. i . <br />I <br />Not seasonally adjusted CPI m1sm:cs <br />The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 1.1 percent over the last 12 <br />months to an index level of239.261 (1982-84=100). For the month, the index increased 0.5 percent prior <br />to seasonal adjustment. <br />The Cells um er Price Index fbr Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Wolkers (CPI-W) increased 0.8 <br />percent over the last 12 months to "an index level of233.438 (l982 ~84=l OO). For the month, the index <br />increased 0.5 percent prior to seasonal adjustment. <br />I, <br />The Chained Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (C-CPI-U) increased 0.7 percent over the <br />last 12 months. For the month, the index rose 0.6 percent on a not seasonally adjusted basis.
