Question 11: Assumptions/Justifications/Metllodology/Calculations
The City, many organizations, and members of the community have realized the importance of
tourism in our community and the positive affect it has on our current businesses, community,
along with the ability to bring in additional businesses. Preparing a comprehensive stormwater
design for construction purposes is one of the first steps in beautifying the downtown and
surrounding community, as well as being efficient with the different infrastructure systems.
It is assumed that enhancing sidewalks, reducing street widths, and adding parking will make the
City more attractive for tourists to stop and shop. Infrastructure design gets the City one step
closer to completing this. We believe, after construction, this will not only retain several
businesses, but attract new businesses. Currently there are many businesses that have complained
to the City regarding poor stonnwater facilities and drainage issues. It is safe to say that this
design project would show good faith in attempting to resolve their concerns. A business
retention number of five was based upon the number of stonnwater complaints the City receives
a year.
Question 12: Assumptions/JustificationslMethodoIogy/Calculations
We anticipate employing six people while working on a comprehensive stonnwater design. This
number would increase significantly once the design is complete and eventually moves into the
construction phase. This project will require hiring a company to survey the City of Cle Elum
locating catch basins, current snow holding areas, and main trunk lines which will be done by
two field surveyors and one surveying technician. Once this is complete one Professional Civil
Engineer and one Design Engineer will work together to create the comprehensive stormwater
system. A project manager will oversee each segment that is to be included in the design of the
stonnwater revitalization project.
The importance of knowing the concerns the community and businesses have with the current
state of the stormwater infrastructure will provide the best outcome for a design. With the
stonnwater system design then construction the ability for the city to continue to prosper and
allow other city enhancements in turn will create stability for current and room for new job
opportunities.
