CITY OF ROSL YN <br />National Historic District and Preserve America Community <br />Develop urban trails through town that connect parks, trailheads, neighborhoods, & local <br />businesses <br />Work with adjacent cities, communities, and landowners to provide regional recreational <br />connections and public access points <br />Provide a variety of non-motorized, human powered, recreational opportunities to enhance the <br />quality of life and experiences for the community and visitors <br />Promote the City of Roslyn as a recreational destination <br />Manage forest health to reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire, promote forest resiliency in the <br />face of climate change, provide for wildlife connectivity and permeability, preserve a visually <br />attractive viewscapes, and provide for watershed protection <br />Objectives <br />Acquire land and work with adjacent land owners surrounding the City of Roslyn to connect to <br />regional trail networks (2017 -160 acres north of RUF, 2019 -231 acres east of RUF, 2022) <br />Maintain and manage public access (2016 -perpetuity) <br />Develop three safe non-motorized urban trails through the community to connect the <br />downtown core and neighborhoods with regional trailheads and parks (2021) <br />Develop additional parking opportunities for residents and visitors (2018 -2019) <br />Maintain a healthy forest ecosystem through stand management (prescribed by LSP) (2016- <br />2031) <br />Develop and promote the City of Roslyn as a recreation destination (2018) <br />Implement a looping trial system in the Roslyn Urban Forest (2017 -2019) <br />Create and distribute maps within (2017 -2018) <br />Place directional signs to direct recreational users to different amenities (2021) <br />Promote local organized multi-sport opportunities for youth and adults (2018 -2020) <br />Maintain existing facilities (2016 -perpetuity) <br />Continued engagement with local community with regards to this plan and its implementation <br />(2016 -perpetuity) <br />Reconstruction of historic grandstand at Runje field and improvements of ball fields (2019- <br />2021) <br />Promote four season recreation for the community and visitors (2016 -perpetuity) <br />Implement capital plans for parks, forests, and open space (2016 -2022) <br />Section 2: Recreational Inventory <br />The City of Roslyn includes a large forested boundary, mUlti-purpose parks and recreational facilities, <br />and open-space that occupies approximately half of the land within is incorporated boundary and is one <br />of its principle and defining assets.
