Describe how this planning activity will benefit your community and how the plan/data will be used to promote resili ency? Comments: The original Kittitas County Plan was multi-jurisdictional. The update will also include all original participating jurisdictions , as well as an effort to gain the participation of those who chose not to in the original planning proce.ss. Being a small community , relationships and eooperation span county-wide a nd it is difficUlt for on e local govemment to fLlnction without the support of an01her. T his plan will build on and strengthen those relationships which will result in a more resilient community. By in itIat ing this planning effort, Kittitas COUr:lty and its planning partners will establ ish the framework through a plann ing nexus fo r red ucing 1he level of risk to natural hazards wi thin the planning area. This reduotion In risk will be· enhanced by working together with planning partners within the planning area , and thus expanding the influence of the goals and objectives of this plan . This enhancement will be created by establishfng a uniform policy throughout the county with an emphasis on pooling resoUrces and capabilities and identifying those hazard mitigation strategies that have the highest degree of cost-effectiveness . As seen in the proposed scope of work for this project" this plan will be developed by fOllowing a scnpt that emphasizes assessing risk, identifying capabilities, comprehensively reviewing a lternatives and identifying actions by w hom , when , where and how they witl be paid for. All if this is completed in contexl with active public involvement throughout the entire process. TIlis is tt:le /lilO~t important aspect of this process . With public su pport, the political support w ill follow and thus allow for a seamless implementation of the actions identified in the plan . The process will prescribe how th~ action s will be· implemented. These acti o ns will be Identified in the fi nal plan. Risk reduction in any portion of Kittitas County will benefit all of its citizens by red uoing the physical } fir:lE!ncial and emotional im 'pact of natural hazard events . By teaming together through a regiona l effort; the probability of maximizing the risk reduction county-wi de will be greatly enhanced and th us further enhance the benefits to the constitl,iency.
