TOURISM PROMOTIONS AGREEMENT <br />January 1,2015 -December 31,2016 <br />Between the City of Ellensburg <br />and <br />The Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce <br />This Agreement is made and entered into this _ day of , 2014, by and between <br />the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce, hereinafter "Chamber," and the City of Ellensburg, a <br />municipal corporation, hereinafter "City," and witnesses that: <br />WHEREAS, RCW 67.28.1815 provides, in part, that "All revenue from taxes imposed under said <br />Chapter shall be credited to a special fund in the treasury of the municipality imposing such tax <br />and used solely for the purpose of paying all or any part of the cost of tourism promotion, <br />acquisition of tourism-related facilities, or operation of tourism-related facilities ... "; and <br />WHEREAS, the City's Lodging Tax revenues have been credited to the Lodging Tax Fund; and <br />WHEREAS, the City applied through the City of Ellensburg Lodging Tax Advisory <br />Committee ("the L TAC") for financial assistance from the City's Lodging Tax proceeds ("the <br />Proposal"): and <br />WHEREAS, the City has determined that the activity herein described promotes the general <br />welfare, health and safety of the citizens of the City, and is in the best interests of the City in <br />regard to the promotion of tourism in the City of Ellensburg, the City intends to disperse City <br />Lodging Tax proceeds to the Chamber to assist with its Proposal, and hereby enters into this <br />Agreement; <br />WHEREAS, the City and the Chamber have successfully cooperated under an agreement <br />beginning in 2001 that resulted in the proviSion of tourism development services for the <br />community; and <br />WHEREAS, the Chamber is qualified and willing to continue providing such services to the City: <br />NOW THEREFORE, and in consideration of the mutual covenants and promises of the parties <br />hereinafter set forth, it is agreed as follows: <br />A. Chamber's Obligations. The Chamber agrees to provide the following services and engage <br />in the following activities in support of the Ellensburg tourism development effort: <br />1. Visitor Information Center <br />a. Establish, operate and maintain a Visitor Information Center for the purpose of <br />i. greeting visitors, <br />ii. displaying promotional brochures, <br />iii. offering assistance, and <br />iv. answering requests for tourism and visitor information. <br />b. Operate the Visitor Information Center Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., to <br />include Saturdays between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and Sundays <br />between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. during the months of June, July, <br />August, and September through Saturday of Labor Day Weekend. <br />Tourism Promotions Agreement -Page 1
