Make it a habit to close and lock gates at unmanned facilities and wear a harness when required. If possible, inform you r dispatcher when you arrive at an unmanned location and when you leave. Follow all safety and operations regulations as posted by your customer. If these conflict with TFI safety and operations regulations, immediately contact your supervisor for guidance. Before arriving at your customer, be sure you know what fluid is to be pumped or de livered . Understand your customer's tank operations, sizes and any other unique characteristics. You should have the customer identify the tank(s) to be drained from or delivered into. Ensure that the tanks are properly labeled. Grounding and Flow Rate Requirements The steps to minimize the possibility of an incendiary spark include the following : Truck loading fill rates, when loading into the top of your truck tank with a downspout, are to be limited to that rate which will result in a linear velocity of less than three feet per second (FPS). The rate is to be maintained until any downspout is submerged. The remaining fill rate, or when loading through a bottom manifold, is not to exceed a rate that will result in a linear velocity of 20 FPS.
