BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2018 - <br />PROHIBITING ALL HEAVY VEHICLES CLASSIFIED BY FEDERAL HIGHWAY <br />ADMINISTRATION AS CLASS 9 AND ABOVE FROM TRAVELING ON NELSON SIDING <br />ROAD, WESTSIDE ROAD, MOHAR ROAD, UPPER PEOH POINT ROAD AND THORP <br />PRAIRIE ROAD ANNUALLY FROM MAY 15TH UNTIL SEPTEMBER 15TH <br />WHEREAS: The Revised Code of Washington 36.75.270 allows local government, by resolution, to <br />limit or prohibit classes and types of vehicles and or the weight of vehicles traveling on <br />local roadways; and <br />WHEREAS: County residents report significant heavy truck traffic utilizing Nelson Siding Road, <br />Westside Road, Mohar Road, Upper Peoh Point Road, and Thorp Prairie Road (Upper <br />County Roads) attempting to avoid nearby Interstate systems; and <br />WHEREAS: Local road infrastructure along said roadways is experiencing accelerated deterioration <br />from the increased use of heavy truck traffic; and <br />WHEREAS: Said restrictions are required to be published at least once in the paper of record, and <br />signs shall be posted on said roadways indicating the closure or limitation of traffic; and <br />WHEREAS: In accordance with the Revised Code of Washington 36.75.270, any person violating said <br />restrictions imposed by this resolution shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners, in the best interest <br />of the public, does hereby prohibit all heavy vehicles classified under the Federal Highway <br />Administration (FHWA) vehicle classification definitions as a class group 9 and above, from traveling on <br />Nelson Siding Road, Westside Road, Mohar Road, Upper Peoh Point Road, and Thorp Prairie Road <br />effective annually from May 15`11 until September 15`h. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners recognizes the need to <br />maintain commercial deliveries to area businesses and acknowledges that FHWA truck class 9 and above <br />may occasionally travel on Upper County Roads delivering goods to local businesses. <br />DATED this 1st day of May, 2018, at Ellensburg, Washington. <br />Attest: <br />❑ Clerk of the Board- Julie Kjorsvik <br />❑ Deputy Clerk of the Board- Mandy Buchholz <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />Laura Osiadacz, Chairman <br />Obie O'Brien, Vice -Chairman <br />Paul Jewell, Commissioner <br />
