GENE DANA, SHERIFF
' KITTITAS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE
307 W. Umptanum Rd • Ellensburg, WA 98926
(509) 962-7525 * (509) 674-2584
FAX (509) 962-7599
January 29, 2018
Board of County Commissioner's
Kittitas County Sheriff's Office
205 West 5th Ave., Room 108
Ellensburg, WA 98926
RE: Recommendation for 2018 ABATE Special Event Application
Dear Board of County Commissioners,
I have reviewed the Special Event application from Abate to host the 2018 ABATE
of Washington Spring Opener to be held June 21, 22, 23 and 24, 2018.
I confirmed with the event organizers that they are asking for the noise waiver for three
nights until 1:00 a.m. on June 21, 22 and 23rd (not on the 24th as listed with application).
My deputies recently canvased the neighbors in the Easton area. The band plays in a
natural swale area that is not overly loud from anywhere in the campground. There were
no problems or complaints about noise from the gathering last year.
The organizers have done a good job controlling problems with their planning. If ABATE
commits to the same additional level of security as in the last few years (including up to
16 hours for an off duty deputy in the area) I recommend approving the event.
Sincerely,
Gene Dana,
Sheriff
