July 25, 2017
Kittitas County
Community Development Services
411 North Ruby Street, Suite 2
Ellensburg, WA. 98926
Attn: Mr. Dan Carlson
Regarding —Marion Meadows PUD (PD -17-00001)
Associated Conditional Use Permit (CU -17-00001)
Development Agreement (DV -17-00001)
Long Plat (LP -17-00001)
Subject: Additional ATV-ORV Traffic
Easton has no city government, no mayor, city council or local law enforcement.
Easton is, also, historically a very popular snowmobile, ATV & ORV recreational area. So popular
that we are actually over recreated most months of the year.
Since there is no local law enforcement people are pretty much free to ride illegally anywhere and at
any speed they choose, including East & West Sparks Road, forest service trails, Kachees Lake bed just to
name a few.
It is also quite common for folks to Ioad their coolers with alcohol, consuming same, as they cruise the
back roads.
Citizens have taken measures to try to slow folks down on Sparks Road with some success by putting
up signage, see attached photos, and sometimes just confronting people which doesn't always turn out
well.
It appears to me that Marion Meadows PUD has the potential to add many, many additional
snowmobiles, ATV's & ORV's to a situation that is already at an unsafe level and mostly illegal.
A high density recreational PUD does not equate to good planning. Good planning is R-5 properties
bringing single family homes with full time residents who will contribute to the community, not be a
burden on very limited services.
Sincerely,
John R.Jensen
PO Box 602
Easton, WA. 98925
509-656-0040
ienseniohnra.yahoo.com
Attachments — 1 Photos
