The temporary flow bypass shall be established through the work area prior to initiation of work <br />to remove the existing diversion. Sandbags or equivalent clean materials shall be installed as <br />necessary to isolate the work area from the watercourse. The bypass shall be only as long as <br />necessary to prevent seepage or backwatering of the work area. The temporary bypass shall be -of <br />sufficient size to pass flow and debris occurring during the project. <br />17. A dam of sandbag and plastic sheeting or equivalent clean structure shall be used to divert the <br />entire flow of Currier Creek through the bypass. If necessary to prevent backwater from entering <br />the work area, an equivalent, clean structure shall be installed at the downstream end of the <br />bypass. <br />18. A fish salvage is required and shall take place in the coffered off portion of the project, prior to <br />removal of the diversion. Fish trapped inside of work areas shall be captured and released . <br />unharmed down river of the project. The Department of Fish and Wildlife will provide a crew to <br />accomplish this task. The project contractor shall provide a 7 -day notice prior to initiating <br />construction in order to arrange for crews and have a pre -work meeting. <br />19. Upon completion of the project, all temporary bypass facilities shall be removed. Materials used <br />for temporary diversion and containment structures (other than washed gravel) shall be removed <br />from the site. <br />DIVERSION REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL OF WASTE MATERIAL <br />20. Alteration of the channel shall be limited to the minimum necessary to remove the old diversion <br />structure and associated fill, debris, tarps, boards etc. <br />21. All old fill and associated concrete, steel, or other debris used to .armor the old diversion shall be <br />removed from the streambed and disposed of in an approved upland site. <br />22. Road fill surrounding the existing diversions and footings shall be carefully removed prior to any <br />demolition work on the existing diversion. After the road fill has been removed, the existing <br />diversions shall be carefully removed. All waste material and excess fill shall be removed <br />completely from the channel and disposed of in an approved upland location where it will not affect <br />flood plains or wetlands. Removed fill shall not be placed within the 100 -year floodplain. <br />23. The temporary bypass shall remain in place until the old diversion has been removed, the <br />slopes have been recontoured and the washed stream gravel and boulders have been installed in <br />the disturbed streambed areas. <br />24. Before water is diverted into the permanent new channel, the streambed gravel shall be in <br />place; the streambanks shall be protected from erosion using erosion control blankets or similar <br />means, and planted. <br />25. The new channel shall be excavated and shaped as per plans. This channel shall be <br />constructed in the dry. <br />Page 3 of 8 <br />
