TFI strives to reduce vehicle accidents and spills by hiring qualified
drivers. This policy identifies minimum safety guidelines to qualify potential applicants for a driving
position. Every TFI applicant considered for driving TFI vehicles over 10,001 pounds shall maintain a
completed driver qualification file for the length of his or her employment.
BACKGROUND:
This policy will outline the minimum Department of Transportation (DOT) driver qualification requirements
for hire at TFI. In the library, navigate to the
Human Resources category and select New Hire Packet -Driver. Open the adobe PDF file and print the
file. The list in Table 1 outlines the forms and who is responsible for completing them.
It is estimated the process will require 3-5 business days and managers should plan accordingly. During
this review period it is recommended to have the new hire complete the TFI New Hire Job Training
Checklist and New Employee Orientation Checklist. Both forms are located in the TFI reference library in
the Human Resources category.
PROCEDURE:
Complete New Hire Packet -Driver forms.
