Program Area 44 <br />Public Outreach <br />WORK PLANNED <br />- Provide evacuation forms, pamphlets, and <br />preparedness guides to the community in both <br />English and Spanish In the rural and LEP <br />Continue Limited English Proficiency (LEP) <br />Program <br />WHY THE WORK IS BEING DONE <br />,The Kittitas County EOC/Emergency Management <br />is responsible for preparing citizens for disasters <br />and coordinating response to and recovery from <br />'disasters and emergencies. The current <br />'preparednass, response, and recovery program in <br />Kittltas County is expanding and being refined on <br />`,an ongoing basis, <br />Due to lessons learned from recent fires, <br />preparedness efforts are focused on limited <br />English speaking populations. Spanish is the <br />second leading language in Kittltas County after <br />English. Kittltas County was a pilot program for <br />the LEP program in Washington State. This <br />program focuses outreach to community <br />members that do not speak English. The pilot <br />program has received great reviews and is <br />currently being expanded to other areas in the <br />nty, <br />RESULT OF THE WORK <br />i Citizens will be better prepared In case of an <br />emergency directly leading to a more resilient <br />community. Additionally, targeted efforts through <br />the LEP program will ensure the Spanish speaking <br />population within the county are able to prepare <br />for emergencies and receive guidance from the <br />County through recovery, <br />Conduct door to door outreach in very rural areas jTo ensure communication with outlying areas. All residents will be better prepared for <br />of Kittltas County, as wall as the areas that containKittitas County has many outlying rural residences ? emergencies to Include how to prepare for and <br />the LEP population. The current <br />body armor has expired and needs to be replaced. <br />'The outer vests are currently operable; however, <br />.the ballistic panels inside the vest have expired, <br />RESULT OF THE WORK <br />The purchase of the body armor will allow KCSRT <br />Jo wear non -expired ballistic vests when deployed <br />In hostile environments.
