3

June 2017

The Kittitas County Public Health Department Emergency Operation Plan is a practical guide
that helps you prepare for an emergency and defines your role and responsibilities as a
department employee in the event of an emergency or disaster. The 2017 updated plan
supersedes all previous emergency operation or emergency response plans.

As a Kittitas County Public Health Department employee, you are a vital and important member
of the department’s Emergency Response Team. Without you, the careful plans and preparations
we have made to provide assistance to our residents may not succeed.

This plan is designed to guide you in how to respond to emergencies and disasters as a first
responder under the public health agency. As an employee, you are required to know the goals,
roles, and responsibilities assigned to the public health department in the event of a disaster.

Even though we may not be able to prevent a disaster such as a catastrophic earthquake, we can
be prepared. When disaster strikes, the speed and efficiency with which the department responds
and the skill with which we perform our assigned duties will lessen the impact on the people of
Kittitas County.

Your help and cooperation is greatly appreciated!

Dr. Mark Larson
Health Officer
